As with so many of you, the demise of Pownce has forced me to venture over to some of those other social networks that I don't frequent that much. Doing so has reminded me of the reasons why I tended to avoid such sites, and there are many! But I can offer one key item of advice for all of you, which I will share in a moment... before I do let propose that others offer similar insights based upon their own findings from such forays. (I love alliteration, can you tell?)
Anyway, here is my tidbit of wisdom:
If you receive a request to "friend"/"follow"/"connect"/"send money"/"exchange virtual body fluids"/etc. from a user who's avatar is a fetching young female in a revealing halter/bikini/coconut shell top, you would be advised to wait before accepting that request.
Shocking, I know. Especially since I know that there are many, nay, many many! such young females just dying to be friends with me... but apparently some ne'er-do-wells on the interweb tubes use this to gain "entre" and defeat our defenses. To think! As someone who is rapidly losing any firsthand recollection of the sight of a living breathing nude female boob... (sigh) I can tell you that this has been a real challenge! And yet, I have been strong!
There were a number of such requests waiting for me on Twitter, for example, and I waited before accepting or blocking. Now, several weeks later I have determined that most of these users have been de-Twittered for undisclosed infractions. To think that men such as I could be considered as being less than rational when confronted with a suggestive invite from a scantily clad young woman... well, I just never!
If I have other amazing insights into the workings of the interweb tubes, I will post them here. Please feel free to do the same. Remember, we're all in this together!
Consider yourself warned!
