What is everyone doing for New Year's Eve?

I am going to a party at a friends and spending the night so I don't have to be out on the roads with all of the crazy party people. I'm bring red wine and the semi-crustless quiche with bacon, pancetta and Emmental cheese.

Now I just have to decide whether to show up promptly at 7 to get a good parking spot or to arrive a wee bit later. I guess it will be a good chance to test the GPS gizmo again. How much… Continue

New Year's Resolution: Great News for All of My Adoring Fans!

Good news! 2009 is knocking at the door, and I have chosen this opportune moment to do something for you, my wonderful adoring fans. That's just how my mind works really... I see something that can be shared as a universal celebratory moment, and I immediately think to myself: "Hmmm, what can I, Mark Jepsen, do to make this special moment even more special for my fans?"

Well, I think I've come up with something! Are your collective hearts all a-pitter-patter? (I knew… Continue

Return of Tunes Tuesday

I'm going to post my albums on my blog Imperious Rex until there is a definite home for the meme. I'll throw the link up on Topixz and Schmownce, but Twitter is a maybe since I do this for my Powncers.

Oh and don't hate on my blog too much. It's pretty embarrassing compared to what you guys have. heh :) But if it all works out I may just make it a decent one.

Social Media is People (but more enriching than Soylent Green)

I just finished my latest blog post, Social Media is People (but more enriching than Soylent Green), in which I reflected on some recent experiences in social media including the Cleveland Social Media Club and the demise of Pownce. For the latter I focused mainly on the creation of Pownce Refugees and included some usage stats, in case any of you are curious.… Continue

Sure Holidays Bring Joy... (But There Might Be a Bag of Planter's Kettle-Roasted, Extra-Crunchy, HoneyBBQ Flavored Disappointment Awaiting You Too!)

I shouldn't complain really. It's a small thing, after all. I mean, I did get some great gifts from my family. More importantly, we spent time together, playing ping pong, darts, card games (Phase Ten, German version! Or "Phase Zehn") all of which is really what makes the holidays enjoyable for me. So I'm not complaining. Just a little bit disappointed.

Why, you ask? Let me explain. Since our family agreed not to go overboard with gifts, we each focused on one "nice"… Continue

Web Design: Fail

http://www.millerpromos.net

Apparently these people think it's 1995 and anything that moves is cool. Don't watch if you are prone to seizures, the Flash intro induces queasiness (among other things) and hides a perfectly nice view of my fair city, Cleveland.

Then when you get inside, oh the fun begins. Marquee tags! Woo! Someone's nephew was seriously overpaid for this project. And it's brand new. I got the e-mail announcing the… Continue

I guess we are abandoning the use of Forum and using Blog instead?

Honestly I don't see much of a difference between the two.

But then its all Newsgroup stuff to an old guy like me.

Last good picture of the snow

❅I took this picture on Christmas Day. ☃❆❄

It's all melting away now.

I really enjoyed this White Christmas. We usually get rain so this was a big treat.

Lots of people were very unhappy about this storm. Being stranded at airports all over the country. Feel bad for them.

I hope they made their way home for the holidays. If you were stranded, tell me how you survived. I rarely travel but if I get stuck, I'd sure like to know what… Continue

Kudos, Thanks, and Woohoo

I realized from my last sad and moody blog post, that there's something I failed to acknowledge. And that is to give Heidi the props she deserves for taking the time to make the Pownce Refugee network.

So Heidi, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I appreciate all you've done to keep us together.

That is all. That and, woohoo!

Pownce Withdrawals

I am still having them. Despite being bitter about the last days, having complete lack of internet for an entire month, and moving full on to Twitter, here, and a little bit of Topixz, I still feel empty without being able to take a few minutes and reading my Pownce posts.

I don't want to just moan and complain, it's over, I've moved on, but is anyone else facing any withdrawal from it too? A habit is a habit and all habits are hard to break.

It's NOT too late for great Christmas gift giving!

[If you're like me, you've still got a social engagement or two scheduled before the end of the Holiday season. Perhaps a visit with some family members, or friends who weren't in town for Christmas? Well, if you haven't yet found the perfect gift for certain gift-worthy people that you'll be seeing, worry no more!]

Mom got me a Garmin Nuvi 760 for Xmas

Mom mentioned yesterday that another box was on its way. It turned out to be this nüvi® 760.

Apparently it also functions as an mp3 player and handsfree phone adaptor. So I guess now I'll have to plan a road trip of more than 4 miles!

Chirstmas cookery

We have a tradition of doing 'small plates' on Christmas (which we celebrate a day early to facilitate seeing both my family and Susan's family) ... we've been gorging and quaffing all day - so far, its been glorious!…

Hot Amish Chick

I don't know why, perhaps I'm too easily amused, but Hot Amish Chick cracks me up.

"Can't sleep. Had the goat dream again. Screamed in my face, "WHY AREN'T I IN THE S-S-SAUSAGE? AREN'T I G-G-GOOD ENOUGH??" Worrisome."

"Dear Lord, please bless Father and Mother and thank you yet again for not taking a stance on passive aggression. Love to Jesus.… Continue
